DS90UB949-Q1: No reply on questions about insertion loss and intra-pair skew at 945 Mbps

Part Number: DS90UB949-Q1

Hi, it's now several weeks since I last had any response on outstanding questions asked on my account login (as under NDA). The last response was from Michael Walker on May 27.  Please can someone be assigned to the case so that it can be resolved.

Thanks,

Chris.

  • Hello Chris,

Not sure what you are referring to here - can you send a link to the E2E thread you are mentioning here?

    Best Regards,

    Casey

  • Hello Chris,

I can't view a private discussion which is going through E2E person to person message. If you have a question, can you please post that as a thread on the forum? If the topic is NDA in nature, then please work with your local TI sales representative for support on your inquiry as we can not discuss NDA topics on this public forum and E2E private message is not the correct avenue to discuss technical inquires in general

    Best Regards,

    Casey

  • This is getting very frustrating!  Our Arrow representative was getting no response over many weeks so I used this forum to try to get an answer, and the reply was given on person to person because of the NDA - it's not something I wanted to use.  This is fundamental information which should be in the datasheet so it really shouldn't take months to get!  All I need is a reliable source of the insertion loss and intra-skew pair figures for twisted pair operation at 945 Mbps, with a document reference that I can pass onto the other companies working on this big project so that they can request the same document under their NDA.  Thanks, Chris.

  • Hello Chris,

I'm sorry for the inconvenience here, and understand your frustrations. But please understand that the information you are asking for is shared under NDA only so we need to get you that information through the right avenue. Also if there are other companies you are working with that want this information they will also need to get that through us as well since NDA material should not be shared between companies outside of the NDA agreement between TI and any specific customer. So I would recommend to reach out to your local TI sales representative about setting up an NDA if you would like to discuss this topic further.

    Best Regards,

    Casey

  • Hi Casey,

I fully appreciate that each company needs to get the information under their own NDA, but that is why I need a document reference for any information you supply so that I can give that reference (but not the document itself) to the partner companies so they can get the same information.  Note that Arrow in the UK were unable to get any response on this issue and suggested that I used this forum.  Our partner companies also have had no results through their representative in Germany.  Hence the need to get the answer directly form TI, so please can you arrange to get the information sent directly to me.  I am happy to share contact information (e.g. email, phone) on the person-to-person area here.

    Thanks,

    Chris.

  • Hello Chris,

The information you are looking for is in a document called "Channel-Requirements -DS90UH94xA"

    Best Regards,

    Casey

  • Hi Casey,

I was sent that document soon after the NDA was set up, but the numbers do not seem believable for operation at 945 Mbps.  My guess is that the document is for maximum bitrate? (sadly that's not stated on the document)  When I questioned that I got a completely different table in the person-to-person forum, and with much more generous values (10dB or so difference).  But there's no document reference for that simple text table, no confirmation that it was for 945 Mbps, and no intra-pair skew figures.  So given the massive difference I don't really trust any data I've been sent.

    Regards,

    Chris.

  • Chris,

Do you have a TI sales contact? What company are you contacting us from? It seems like this discussion should be going through NDA channels rather than the E2E forum so who are you working with on the TI side for the NDA setup?

    Best Regards,

    Casey

  • Hi Casey,

We were working through Arrow in the UK, but after getting the document you referred to they got no further response from TI and suggested I use this forum.  I am from Active Silicon in the UK and we are a specialist in the video side, working alongside several companies including a very large German one on this rail project.  I would be very happy to have a direct contact, as the restrictions of this forum with the NDA make progress very difficult.  I feel that resolution should be very simple with a 10 minute call!

    Regards,

    Chris.

  • Hello Chris,

I sent you an email directly so let continue this discussion there.

    Best Regards,
    Casey
