DS160PR410: setting at SMBus mode

Part Number: DS160PR410

Hi team,

Here I have a customer have some SMBus setting question

If the they want to setting at SMBus mode.

  1. Do they just need to set EN_SMB pin?
  2. Can they control PWDN0/1 pin function by SMBus mode?

  3. If they set at SMBus mode will other pin mode setting function still work? (such as PWDN0/1 pin)

  4. For now they set PWDN0/1 = H , but in this mode they set EN_SMB to (L3 or L0) SMBUS slave/master mode, they can’t find the device under the OS.
  5. If they can set at SMBus mode how can they input the Register? Because they can’t access R/W
  • Hi Len,

I just responded to your internal email as well.

To enable SMBus mode, we need to set EN_SMB pin only to L3 - SMBus slave mode. RX_DET pin still functions and there is override for this so it can be controlled through register. Please refer to the DS160PR410 programming guide.

PWDN0/1 are controlled through pin.  To enable SMBus mode register access, please set EN_SMB to either L1 or L3 mode and set PWDN0/1 to GND or low.

Note there is a GUI that controls DS160PR410 device. Your customer can use this GUI to control different functions.

  • HI Sir

PWDN0/1 are controlled through pin-> Does this mean that it can only be controlled from external hardware pin?

Could we use the GUI to change PWDN0/1 state to  High or Low

DS160PR410 Programming Guide can't not find the setting.

    thanks!

  • Greetings,

Your understanding is correct. PWDN pins is controlled through pins only. Please discuss this with Len Hsu since he may have a way to implement this through register.
