ONET4201PA: OUTPOL

Part Number: ONET4201PA

I have a quick question:
Is it possible to "compensate" for a wrong input polarity (DOUT+ of the input TIA goes to DIN- of the ONET4201PA and DOUT- is connected to DIN+) simply by pulling OUTPOL LOW or is this not the intended use?
