SN65C1168E-SEP: as a RS-485 driver

Part Number: SN65C1168E-SEP

Hi there, maybe this is a very basic question. Can this device be used for RS-485? Any special considerations in designing as such?

  • The difference between RS-485 and RS-422 is small. Here is a comparison table.

If you use SN68C1168E as a RS-485 driver, I think the driving strength is enough. However you may want to check the common mode range in you application.
