Hi Team,

I just wanted to confirm that a 913/933 pair can be used for 8 bit YUV-8 data format.

I figure we can just run in 10 bit mode and only connect DIN[0:7] and leave the rest open. Let me know if there there are any "gotchas" I'm missing.

Hi Casey,

Thanks for the references, the key difference in my question is we are using 8bit YUV vs 10bit YUV and there is no 8 bit setting on the 913/933. But seems like this is fine?

A quick follow-up question from a setup standpoint, should should just leave pins DIN[8:9] open on both the seralizer and deseralizer for this setup. I believe the FPD packet is still going to send bits [8:9] as 0s since we have to run in 10 bit mode so I wanted to verify that just leaving them open is the right way to go.

Hey David,

Yes, YUV 8-bit is supported and you are exactly right. Two of the pins are unused. It doesn't really matter from the device side which 8 are used. It can be the 8 LSBs or 8 MSBs. If you are pairing with the 934/914A, then the corresponding LSB or MSB pins will toggle on the other side of the link. If you are using 954/935/960/962 as the DES, then there is configuration for which bits are used in RAW mode in register 0x7C:
