TPS65981: using with TUSB546

Hi,

The application is Type C Alt mode DisplayPort DFP USB port. However we don't have USB 3. So the port will be dedicated Alt mode USB C DisplayPort. Supplying 5V 3A power to LCD/Monitor.

We are trying to use TSP65981 with TUSB546 cross bar switch. The both device has switch for side band ( SBU_P/N). Which one to use? And what to do with other device SBU_P/N?

Is there any example of such usages.

It is optional to route it through TPS65981 but at the end it has to go to TUSB546, the Aux signals for DP negotiation are routed on SBU pins.

So, if I use the SBU/AUX from TUSB546, I can leave the SBU1/2 and AUX_P/N in TPS65981 not connected? The datasheet asks to GND AUX pins with 1k-5Mohms resistor if they are unused, but it does not talk about SBU pins.

I think you can leave the SBU pins not connected, they have internal pull down. Follow datasheet suggestion for Aux pins.
