DS110DF111: rate setting

Part Number: DS110DF111

Dear team

DS110DF111SQ is currently used to run 10G speed. If we want it to be used as a 1G speed signal, do we need to modify the current configuration?
From the datasheet, I found the following description. Does this mean that this Retimer will adapt to 10G-1G rate signals?
If so, why did we test it with a 1G SFP Module and found that the rate can only reach about 10M?

many thanks

Denny

  • Hi Denny,

The DS110DF111's default CDR setting is dual rate 10.3125Gbps/1.25Gbps mode. So, yes the retimer by default can adapt to either of these two rates.

I will need more info about your SFP test setup, including input data rate and data pattern to the retimer DUT channel, to be able to debug.

    Thanks,

    Rodrigo Natal

  • Hello Denny,

In order to run the retimer at 1.25 Gbps, you must enable the divider override and force the divider to divide by 8. See below suggested retimer channel register settings for fixed 1.25Gbps operation:

    1. 0x60 = 0x00
    2. 0x61 = 0xB2
    3. 0x62 = 0x00
    4. 0x63 = 0xB2
    5. 0x64 = 0xFF
    6. 0x09 = 0x04 (enable divider override)
    7. 0x18 = 0x30 (force divide by 8)

  • Hello Denny,

Please note that the register settings above do work for a 1.25 Gbps data rate, but are not required given the retimer's default CDR mode setting. Please provide an answer to Rodrigo's questions, if you would like to use the retimer's default CDR mode settings for a 1.25 Gbps data rate.
