DS125BR401A: Use 2pcs BR401A in same channel for cascade...

Dear Sirs,

Here is the customer design concept.

Their application is SAS and use MiniSAS HD cable (twist +shielded) with 1m, 3m, and 6m.

In the same cascade channel, they want to use 2 pcs on each board in TX and RX side!

Does it workable or not?

Or any suggestion for customer?

    Hi,

    We typically do not recommend for two redriver channels to be cascaded in system applications. The concern is noise enhancement, given that the signal is going through two separate high-gain CTLE stages without any retiming performed. If cascading is required, my recommendation would be to use one of TI's retimer part numbers.
