I'm having a test about 10G compliance.

So I need to generate PRBS pattern. but it doesn't work on SigCon Tool.

I already connected between EVM and Laptop.

Please provide how to generate PRBS31, PRBS9 using SigCon Tool in detail.

Thanks for replying. but it still doesn't work.

Could you provide setting file(such as .cfg) for PRBS9 pattern?

I'm using SigCon Architect 2.0.0.8 and also use 4A channel on EVM.

There is input signal.

Hi Jingchang,

I'm assuming that when you say 10G you mean 10.3125Gbps Ethernet rate.

The retimer channel register for CDR rate needs to be configured for 10G Ethernet
- 0x2F = 0xB6 (this can be done in SigCon Architect CDR tab)
- On the SigCon Architect low level page a few registers need to be configured on the DS125DF1610 channel serving as pattern generator
  - Single Bit Transition check should be disabled by setting channel 0x0C[3]=0
  - Divide by 1 should be forced on the generator channel
    - Set channel register 0x18= 0x00
    - Set channel register 0x09[2]=1
- After this configuration you should be able to observe CDR lock on the retimer channel as long as input signal is a subrate of 10.3125Gbps
- Once CDR is locked, you can then go to SigCon Architect PRBS tab and enable generator on the channel in question

Ok. I'll try it.

I have more question.

#1 after set channel register 0x09[2]=1, CDR is not able to lock

#2 But set channel register 0x09[2]=0, CDR is able to lock and PRBS works properly.

1. Is there any sequence for setting you provide??

2. #2 setting is suitable?

Forcing divider setting may not be required here. I would recommend to continue with 0x09[2]=0 if the retimer CDR is consistently locking and its output PRBS pattern and data rate are correct.

I also bought DS125DF410EVM. Could you let me know how to generate PRBS for 10GbE compliance???

Please provide as DS125DF1610EVM setting you notice.

Hi,

The DS125DF410 is set to 10GbE/1GbE CDR mode by default. See below PRBS generator instructions from the DS1xxDF410 retimer programming guide. If you are using a sub-rate input signal as the reference signal for the retimer channel I would also recommend to disable SBT function by setting channel register 0x0C[3]=0. I've also included below the TI.com link to the programming guide.

5	Channel	Write	30	08	08	Power-up PRBS Clock.
6	Channel	Write	30	00 02	03	Select PRBS9 pattern. Select PRBS31 pattern.
7	Channel	Write	0D	20	20	Enable PRBS Clock triggering on Div/Clock so that the eye diagram is viewable. Disabling results in Pattern Cycle triggering.

I have connected EVM and SigCon Tool.

After then I tried to generate PRBS as you provide me. But it is stil not working.

PRBS31 is working but PRBS9 is not working...

Please explain how to generate PRBS9 pattern using SigCon tool in detail.

* Condition

1) There is input signal.

2) Uesd Chennel 0.

3) As follow DS110DF111,DS125DF111, DS100DF410, DS110DF410, and DS125DF410 Programming Guide, I tried to generate PRBS

=> not working

4) SBT function by setting channel register 0x0C[3]=0

Hi,

If you are using SigCon Architect then there is not need to enter this full configuration routine manually. You simply need to select the desired pattern and click to enable using the PRBS tab on the GUI. The SBT function can be disabled via the low-level page.
