TCAN1051H: CIA601-4 and J1939-22 CAN FD

Part Number: TCAN1051H
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TCAN1051

CAN team,

Our customer is working with TCAN1051 and TCAN1042 for CAN FD.  They need to meet CIA601-4 and J1939-22.  Can we confirm that these parts allow a customer to meet these standards?

Do we have a list somewhere of which standards are supported or tested?

Thanks,
Darren

  • Hi Darren,

These transceivers do not support the SIC (signal improvement capable) requirements outlined in CiA 601-4. We have other devices in development that will support this feature and will have the same pinout and base functionality as TCAN1042.

The J1939-22 standard is focused on the protocol layer for CAN FD communication. Because these transceiver simply deal with the electrical parameters of the CAN bus, they do not care about the data format that is used for them. However, both listed devices support data rates up to 5Mbps which is the maximum defined for CAN FD.

    Regards,
    Eric Schott
