DP83TC811R-Q1: Ethernet network transmission test method compare

Part Number: DP83TC811R-Q1

Hi team

I would like to ask the question related to the ethernet transmission test:

For the test of Ethernet network transmission, we can generally monitor the packet loss rate, or directly use two hosts to PING each other to check whether the PING can be successful.
We want to understand the difference of the both method. For detecting the packet loss rate, I think it is more fault-tolerant right? As long as it is lower than a set value, it will be recognized as the PASS.
But for ping method, each time (assuming ping 32 bytes) , is there no fault tolerance? As long as there is data loss, it is judged that the ping is not successful? In other words, the ping method is more stricter than monitoring the packet loss rate?
