Hi Team,

Good day. Our customer is using the SN65LVDS31MDREP to translate a 3.3V Clock signal to LVDS.

For this project, they need to compute the jitter added by each device. The jitter information in the datasheet is not detailed.

Could you please provide jitter information for the SN65LVDS31MDREP? As a reference, input clock on 1A pin is either 40MHz or 100Mhz.

I noticed that similar topics are talking about jitter vs cable length.

In this specific case, the LVDS signals are routed on the PCB with 100ohm differential traces (no cable). As mentioned above, we are using only 1 input (1A), all others are grounded.

We would like to know the jitter added by the SN65LVDS31MDREP

Hi,

Unfortunately, we don’t have specific numbers for the SN65LVDS31 additive jitter. We have done some more end to end testing similar to what’s described in the app note you referred to (http://www.ti.com/lit/an/slla053b/slla053b.pdf ). The results of this new testing is presented in this app note: http://www.ti.com/lit/an/slaa844/slaa844.pdf . It doesn’t specify the jitter added by the SN65LVDS31, however, from the results we expect the additive jitter for SN65LVDS31 to be on the order of few hundred pico-seconds. Sorry that we don’t have a more specific answer.
