TUSB8041-Q1: Using TUSB8041-Q1 without I2C

Part Number: TUSB8041-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB8041

Hello Team,

Thanks for your support.

we want to use TUSB8041-Q1. We will use 3 downstream ports. All of them were for USB3.0.

This device has I2C register, but can we use this device without any I2C communication or without any EEPROM?

Thanks,

Yuta Kurimoto

  • Hello,

Yes, the TUSB8041 can be used without I2C or SMBUS configuration.  If you wish to have the hub report as only having 3 ports, you would need to use I2C or SMBUS to set that in the "port used" register, but it is not functionally required.
