LMH0344: SD/HD-SDI Transformer Isolation

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMH0302, LMH0344

Hi TI,

What would be the best solution for isolation using a transformer?  In the attached schematic is a preliminary design of using a LMH0302 cable driver for driving the transformer primary and on the isolated secondary my thinking is to use an LMH0344 cable equalizer to re-condition the signal after it passes trough. Based on my search most RF transformers which look like suitable candidates for this application are up to 1GHz which is a bit low for HD-SDI so my thinking is the EQ would help to compensate for any additional losses but based on some more reading the TI forums it could also make things worse...

The transformer in the schematic is a 1:2 ratio which a have at hand but the schematic is drawn for a 1:1 ratio.

Do you see any potential problems with this solution?

Thank you.

BR, Tilen
