DP83869HM: JTAG Connector

Part Number: DP83869HM

Hi,

We are using DP83869HM PHY chipset in our project.

Regarding JTAG connector, we searched for Universally standard PHY JTAG connection. But, we were not able find this.

Hence, we just followed the JTAG Connection which is in the below screen shot. This we took it from one of our previous design, where FPGA was used and JTAG connection is with respect to Xilinx Debugger.

Kindly suggest whether the JTAG connection which we have used for PHY is valid ? If not please suggest the correct one.

Thank you.

Kind Regards,

Sandeep

  • Hi Sandeep,

JTAG connections look ok for the CLK, TDI, and TMS pins. For the JTAG_TDO pin, I would recommend pulling low by default to ensure proper strapping to the default mode. Please let me know if you have any further questions. Else, I will be closing this thread.

    Thank you,

    Nikhil

  • Hi Nikhil,

Thanks for providing the valuable information. Sure, we will implement JTAG_TDO pin with pull down.

Actually, we need information on the pin outs of JTAG connector. Like, we have used 14 pin connector, in which pin 4 is TMS, pin 6 is CLK, pin 8 is TDO & pin 10 is TDI. So, all these connections with pin wise is it going to match with the universal JTAG standard ?
Is there any Universal JTAG standard pinouts for the PHY ?

Kindly make us understand on the JTAG if our thoughts are not correct.

    Thank you.

    Kind Regards,

    Sandeep

  • Hi Sandeep,

As your question is not related to the Ethernet Physical Layer Transceiver it may be outside the scope of this forum. I may be able to check internally if there is some known JTAG standard connector, but as this is outside of the scope of the Ethernet Physical Layer Transceiver, we may not be able to provide a guarantee.

    Thank you,

    Nikhil

  • Hi Sandeep,

Our team is not aware of any universal JTAG standard connector. If you do not have any other questions, I will be closing this thread.

    Thank you,

    Nikhil
