TCAN1044AV-Q1: Could TCAN1044A-Q1 support 3.3V ?

Part Number: TCAN1044AV-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TCAN1044A-Q1, AWR1843

Hi Team,

It looks like  TCAN1044A-Q1 can not support 3.3V system.

If I want to connect  MCU which is 3.3V system in AWR1843 , the TCAN1044A”V”-Q1 is the only solution ?

>>If this is true, could you help support TCAN1044AVDRQ1 20pcs? THX

  • Hi Kygo,

Any CAN transceiver with a 'V' suffix supports voltage translation of digital signals to a supplied Vio level. TCAN1044AV supports Vio down to 1.7V. However, this device requires a 5V supply for Vcc. Devices without the 'V' suffix do not support Vio and may have different functions for this pin (TCAN1044A pin 5 is NC).

Digital voltage translation can also be done externally by other means to allow the 5V domain of a TCAN1044A to interface with lower-voltage MCU signals. However, this will require extra components on the board and introduce more delay in the signal lines. It sounds like TCAN1044AV-Q1 will be your prefered solution here.
