Hi Team,

Currently, we use TUSB211.

However, we would like to realize the transmission of USB2.0 by 12m cable.

Therefore, we are studying series connect of TUSB21x device.

(Please refer to the following image.)

We have three questions.

I understand that if serial connect of 2pcs, TUSB211 can support 8 to 10m cable.

If yes, could you please let us know the maximum cable length of 2pcs of TUSB212(Other device)?

And, if TUSB212 can support more than 12m,

could you please let us know the Evaluation result(Eye pattern waveform) and information on the cable used at more than 12m?

We understand that TUSB216 and TUSB217 can connect series.

Hi Hide,

Just to confirm You only need to support the far end USB 2 eye mask in this system? Meaning you will not have a external connector at the end of the 12m cable, only a attached USB device. For this kind of application you will want to use TUSB216I or TUSB217A. TUB212 will not be able to support this application. 10m has been achieved for the near end case using two devices on either end of the cable. 12m with test device maybe achievable for the far end eye mask however we do not have any data for this test case.

Understood, I believe 12m may be achievable with very good cable construction (large gauge cable).

Customer should use TUSB216I over TUSB216.

1. I do not have additional information here on specific vendors.

2. No specific recommendation. I recommend starting at 10m with the cable customer decides to go with then move up to 12m.

3. These were custom cables with no PN I can share.

Hi Malik-san,

We use USB2.0 Full speed only.

If Full speed, TUSB216 automatically detects a FS connection and does not enable signal compensation.

Do you have a plan for redriver IC development for Full speed?

By the way, have you ever communicated full-speed signal over 10m at TUSB216 evaluation?

And, if I use high speed and Full speed, is there any problem with the combination of TUSB211 and TUSB216?

Hi Hide,

Customer should use TUSB216I on both sides for long cable application to maintain good signal quality. Functionally there is no issue with shorter cable. TUSB216I will not impact FS signals, I have not looked specifically at FS with 12m cable.
