Hi Prakash,
DP83822I is capable of MII, RMII, and RGMII signaling. It sounds like you are interested in RMII, so please check out section 8.4.1.2 in the datasheet for more information about this MII setup (signals, config, etc).
Sincerely,
Gerome
Actually I was looking for some text to understand how all it happens and what does signalling means? So it would be very helpful. if you can provide how it works?
Hi Prakash,
The signaling process for these interfaces is defined by IEEE specification. Within each section, it lists the portion of IEEE802.3 that the interface is specified in.
Sincerely,
Gerome
Is it possible in short to explain how sinaling works in sequenece for read and write data part?
Hi Prakash,
The datasheet diagrams that you have pointed out are tested configurations using our PHY. If you are connecting the PHY to the MAC in these configurations, they are tested to work. You do not need to worry about the signaling that goes intermediately, as the PHY has been programmed to handle that itself. What MAC are you using, and what MII communication standard are you trying to interface using? Please let us know this so we can further help you in your debug of your system.
Sincerely,
Gerome
what is difference in-between Master-Slave RMII Signaling? Why and when / what is the we need of them? For me "master" is the device that cotrols the "slave" device - so what does it means in terms of RMII communication?
Hi Prakash,
RMII is a standard interface, and we do not have documents detailing how the signaling works. This is available online from IEEE. We can only help with implementation issues of our PHYs in this forum. I believe your questions are better directed towards IEEE for a better understanding of the standard.
Sincerely,
Gerome
