DS90UB954-Q1: How to generate RAW10 test pattern without ALPS?

Part Number: DS90UB954-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ALP

Hello,

In the past I have tried to use the ALPS gui but not been able to find how to generate a test pattern using it. It seems you still have to figure out all the individual register settings and then just use ALPS to set those. The difficult part of this is figuring out the correct values in the first place.

Please could you share the register settings for 1920x1080x30fps for RAW10 data?

Thanks,
Vivek

  • Hello Vivek,

Can you please explain more about what issues you are having with the Pat Gen tool in ALP?

In the picture below, you will see that you have to set parameters in the "Pattern Generator" tab in ALP. In this case, I am connected to the 954 EVM; but you can also enable demo mode (under preferences on the left) and use the 954 profile to get the Pat Gen tab.

You can get the register settings by clicking on "Display Registers" after you are done setting the desired values in all the fields provided.

Hope this helps. Please let me know if you are still having trouble.

You can see this training video for some basics on ALP: https://training.ti.com/use-analog-launch-pad-alp-gui-configure-fpd-link-evms

  • Hi Shruti,

    Thanks for your quick response.

I guess the first issue I'm having is I don't see a "Pattern Generator" tab in ALPS.

My version is 1.57.0010 same as the image you showed. I am in demo mode in this case.

Is there something special I need to do to enable the Pattern Generator tab? Mine only goes to Margin Analysis as you can see in the picture below.

    Thanks,

    Vivek

  • Hello Vivek,

    Are you using this version:

If not, then please update your ALP software.

There is nothing you need to do to see the Pat Gen tab; it should already be there.

  • Hi Shruti,

Sorry my mistake. I went by the version number on the bottom which matches yours. I didn't think to check in About for the date as well.

    Thanks,

    Vivek
