DS90UB933-Q1: Connecting LMH0031 to DS90UB933

Part Number: DS90UB933-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMH0031, , DS90UB954-Q1, DS90UB934-Q1

Hi,

Can I connect LMH0031 to DS90UB933?

If yes, is there example or main things I need to pay attantion?

  • Hello Shmuel,

DS90UB933-Q1 takes in up to 12 parallel LVCMOS bits by sampling on the PCLK input and passes those to the remote deserializer through FPD-Link. It does not have any requirements regarding the format of the data it receives, so long as that data can be sampled on the edge of the PCLK, so it does seem reasonable that LMH0031's parallel output could be connected with 933 although we have no example reference of that topology. You just need to make sure that the PCLK rate used at the input of the 933 is within the datasheet limits.

One thing to keep in mind is that since LMH0031 does not provide discrete sync signals to the 933, it would not be suitable to use one of the CSI-2 output deserializers in conjunction with this combo such as DS90UB954-Q1, because the CSI-2 deserializers need to see sync signals HSYNC/VSYNC in order to frame CSI-2 packets. So you would only be able to use a parallel LVCMOS output deserializer with the 933 here such as DS90UB934-Q1 to reconstruct the parallel bus output the same way it was provided at the input to the 933.

    Best Regards,

    Casey
