TCA6408A-Q1: Each of Iccp, Icci current consumption

Part Number: TCA6408A-Q1

What is the current consumption in operating mode for each of the Icci and Iccp of TCA 6408 A-Q1?
The Electrical Characteristics in the data sheet specifies the total current value for the Icci + Iccp, but does not describe individual current values.

  • Hi Yuichi,

I will have an answer prepared for this question by tomorrow at 5pm.

  • Hi Yuichi,

Operating mode is when the clock line SCL is being toggled at 400kHz with no load. I/O's are set to inputs and pulled either to VCC or to GND. Resulting ICC current max is 36uA for 2.3V to 3.6V.

If we look at standby mode, we can estimate that since fscl = 0kHz, SCL line is not being toggled, so most of the current is coming from P-ports. At Vccp = 2.3V to 3.6V, ICC =~ ICCP = 10uA.

If we subtract the standby mode current which is roughly ICCP, from the total operating mode current ICC, we get

    ICC(operating mode) - ICC (standby mode) = ICC(operating mode) - ICCP =~ ICCI = 36uA - 10uA = 26uA.

So in conclusion, we can estimate ICCI is roughly 26uA.

    Tyler
