Hi.

I've recently started experimenting with the DS90UB940 evaluation board and have two questions:

1. Does the chip send data back over the LVDS connection even when there is no explicit I2C communication on my part?

2. Is there a way to disable the backchannel completely and make the DS90UB940 more or less passive?

Hi Alex,

Does the chip send data back over the LVDS connection even when there is no explicit I2C communication on my part? AH: Yes regardless if you have I2C communication unless you disable the back channel.
Is there a way to disable the backchannel completely and make the DS90UB940 more or less passive? AH: I think you need to set 0x01[2], 0x03[3], and 0x05[7] to 0. If any of these are set to 1, the BC will be enabled.

Hi Aaron,

thanks that helped a lot already. Is there any information on what 0x01[2] actually does? In the datasheet it is only tagged as "RESERVED".

It is "Back Channel Enable for Camera Mode".
