TVP5146M2: TVP5146M2 output 8-bit instead of 10-bit

Part Number: TVP5146M2

Hello

I would like to get TVP5146M2 to convert analog rgb, ypbpr, cvbs, s-video to digital output which is 8-bit not 10-bit since my DAC (ADV7343) accepts 8-bit only.

I noticed that TVP5146M2 has 8-bit mode but could not find it in registers, so please help me on this. I know support is limited on this but I won't need much support, just fast and small one.

also, what is the maximum resolution it can handle?

thanks

  • Hello Hossam,

Unfortunately for this product it isn't limited but no support. We do not have the technical expertise to answer these kinds of questions in detail.

For 8-bit operation I think your best bet would be to connect the upper 8-bits of the output to your DAC. I cannot find anything about 8-bit mode either and have no idea why that is mentioned.

I don't know what this correlates to in terms of max resolution but I did find this about resolutions: The TVP5146M2 supports interlace RGB inputs having standard 480i or 576i component video timing.

I would presume that means the maximum resolution of 576i is the upper limit.

Unfortunately that's the extent of the answers I can provide for this.

    Best Regards,
