[FAQ] DS90UB941AS-Q1: Recommendation of 941AS external oscillator for splitter mode

Part Number: DS90UB941AS-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CDCE937-Q1, CDCE913-Q1

Hi team

I would like to ask a question about recommendation of 941AS  external oscillator for splitter mode. Customer system is one 941AS with two 948 using splitter mode, each port roughly have a 96Mhz video stream bandwidth. So I would like to ask your suggestion about the external oscillator MHZ range, is that OK we calculate the total pclk and choose a external oscillator whose bandwidth higher than the total video stream pclk requirement?  Since customer worried about the 8155 DSI jitter so do you have any device to recommend to customer? Thank you.

  • Hello Zirui,

We recommend to select an adjustable clock generator with low jitter for this type of application such as CDCE913-Q1 or CDCE937-Q1. If both ports of the splitter use the same PCLK frequency then you could use a single PLL device such as CDCE913-Q1 to generate one clock to feed to both REFCLKs. If the two PCLKs will be different, then a multi-PLL device such as CDCE937-Q1 can be used to generate two independent clocks

    Best Regards,

    Casey
