Question about dp83td510 design - English.docx

  • Hello,

I will need to consult with team. I expect a response by 12/9 at latest.

    Sincerely,

    Gerome

  • it`s very kind of you! I`ll provide more information about my design if you need. maybe the schematic is a little blurry in my docx file.

  •  The led besides J20 in my pcb and  dp83td10EVM board,  seems to twinker simultaneously.

  • Hello,

Regarding RMII connection, our EVM has a connection to a MAC, where DP83822 is the DP83TD510's MAC in this case, so the connection diagram should be similar on your design.

In order to diagnose where the connection is breaking, I would suggest putting your DP83TD510 in MII Loopback (for MII checking) and Reverse Loopback (for MDI checking) to see where the problem lay with some external packet generation.

    Sincerely,

    Gerome

  • Thanks for your reply and patience. Should I modify registers ,or maybe others file, dp83td510 driver  in TI branch when I use it in my board normally? any registers should be changed in the PHY driver file or changed by hand when I debug in MII Loopback mode?

  • From schmetic dp83td510 connects with dp83822 in cross-connction mode. Need I to connect dp83td510 with MAC of MPU in direct-connection?

  • Hello,

Could you please differentiate cross-connection mode from direct-connection? I do not necessarily understand what you are asking.

Regarding normal operation, I would like to investigate where the connection is breaking before modifying current setup conditions.

Please investigate whether connection is breaking:

    1) Between DP83822 and DP83TD510 (Checking MII connection)

    2) Between DP83TD510 (EVM) and DP83TD510 (Customer) (Checking MDI connection)

    3) Between DP83TD510 and imx68ull (Checking MII connection)

These can be done through various configurations of generating and checking PRBS on one PHY and putting another PHY into an appropriate loopback mode to route it back from where it came from. Please see DP83TD510E datasheet section 7.3.11 and DP83822 datasheet section 8.4.9 for details regarding PRBS.

    Sincerely,

    Gerome

  • Thanks for your advise, I`ll try to find the reason why it cannot establish connection. I mean cross-connection is  that phy RX pin connect to MAC TX pin. direct-connection is that phy RX pin connect to MAC RX pin, just the same as phy conncect phy by back-to-back mode. I`ll try your advise first, thank you!

  • thanks, I`ve changed my design, and resoved! You can close this issue.
