DP83869HM: DP83869 schematic review

Hi,

I am using the DP83869HM in my design in media converter mode (Cooper to fiver 1000Base-T and 100Base-T). I would like to have my design review by an expert and provide their feedbacks. I am using TPS73525DRBT for the 2.5V (VDD2P5), the TPS73512DRBT for the 1.1V (VDD1P1), TPS73533DRBT for the 3.3V (VDDIO) to provide power to the devices.

The main goal is to use the component only with strap (We test with the DP83869EVM and it is working) without any microcontroller and so..

Can you please check if the configuration are good and if the power supplies capability are good for the component supplies ?

I see that you have provided only the copper, can you please share the fiber interface schematics.

I also understand you have tested the EVM and it works. Can you please summarize the strap configuration you used on the EVM for me to review.

I used a transceiver signal to convert fiber to LVDS signals.

You will find the scematic but it's a special module developement for the application.

Hello Ynouss Diallo,

I will review the information provided and provide inputs by end of the week.

I did a quick review and I did not see the signal detect signal from the transceiver. Any thoughts.

In the power supply sheet, i did not see the 1.1V rail.

I put a 1.2V Rail power supply for the 1.1V rail based on the recommanded operation conditions in the DP83869HM specification.

VDD1P1 => 1.21 V max.

For the transceiver, the Signal detect are not available on this version of the component. Is that imply that if the signal dection is open the communication will failed ?

The following power consumption are givin for the SGMII to Copper 1G MODE. Is it possible to know the one associate to the 1000Base-T to 1000Base-X and 100Base-T to 100Base-FX please ?

hank you for waiting. I have embedded the comments in the schematics. I summarized some of the comments below:

Power supply decoupling and sequencing

11.1 Two Supply Configuration
Each of the pin requires a 0.1uF + 1uF. A 10nF + 10uF is recommended for each supply rail.
Please follow Figure 115. Two Supply Sequence Diagram

1.1V supply is recommended against 1.2V currently used.

Signal Detect

You can disable through register or terminate the SD input to ground.

Not sure on he use case for J14 for MDC. A 1.5K pull up is recommended for MDIO

Rbias - Any reason to use 11.1K, A 11K is recommended

Fiber interface

Look like the module is a customized. I could not find the datasheet.

Please check if the module has internal AC coupling caps.

Place the signal input caps near to the transceiver.

TX_ inputs

If size is not a constraint, consider terminating the MAC interface input signals.

Magnetics

Please check the magnetics part number
How is the GND_Earth connected to GND
C85 1uF cap - cap value range recommended is 1 to 10 nF

Strap inputs

Since the default position of the Jumper are not mentioned, Strap configuration has not been validated. This should be fine since you have a tested configuration
