TCAN4550-Q1: UVsup test and recovery

Part Number: TCAN4550-Q1

Hello team,

Can I ask a question about UVsup test of TCAN4550-Q1?

Test condition : Vsup 12V -> 4.5V -> 6.5V

At the recovery of Vsup, does TCAN4550-Q1 necessarily require a reset pulse by using RST pin, before initializing registers through SPI?

Without toggling RST pin, the TCAN4550-Q1 doesn’t work normally for SPI interface. So, is the RST pin the righ approach?

Thanks,

Sam Lee

  • Hi Lee,

    If the Vsup voltage drops below 4.5V, the device will experience a POR and all of the register values will revert to their default state. However, if this threshold is not crossed, toggling the RST pin will be necessary for this reset to occur. It may be the case that even though 4.5V was set or measured on the Vsup line that the actual device pin never drops to this value. To catch this edge case scenario, it sounds like toggling the RST pin will be the most consistent solution to this test condition.

    Let me know if you have any more questions.
