Hi support team,
We have 2 DP83TC811EVM and they worked perfectly since they were delivered with power from the barrel jack connector.
Two weeks ago, i mounted them on aluminium plates (easier to work with than loose circuit boards on the desk).
After mounting I couldn't get the communication working again (ethernet device <-> DP83TC811EVM <-> DP83TC811EVM <-> ethernet device), I didn't change the position of the DIP switches, so the configuration was still the same.
I tried debugging via USB, but it seems like I can't get them to connect to a Windows pc. But while trying to debug through USB I discovered that connecting the USB while the barrel jack connector was also powered resulted in working communication. J25 is not populated.
After some further testing I concluded that there is something wrong with one of the two boards.
It only communicates with USB and barrel jack connected and J25 not populated OR USB and J25 populated.
Here are some pictures as an overview:
So in fact, everything works, but there is still something wrong with the power delivery.
The only thing I can think of is that I damaged something with static discharge while mounting the board, so there is probably no simple solution. but I still wanted to ask to be sure.
Thanks in advance and best regards.
Mathieu
