SN65DP159: Driver support

Because the customer's OS is CentOS 8 and Windows 10 IoT Enterprise Does TMDS181 and SN65DP159/SN75DP159 need Driver support or as long as AMI bios has support? The platform is Intel Elkhart's ATOM CPU.

Hi,

The DP159 and TMDS181 both support pin-strap mode or I2C configuration mode. For I2C configuration mode, please refer to these two app notes, https://www.ti.com/lit/an/slla468/slla468.pdf, https://www.ti.com/lit/an/slla466/slla466.pdf. There is no driver for them.

Hi David,

Our customer's HDMI source is from elkhart lake chip and using DP159 at reference design. Do you think which one is better for customer's HDMI 2.0 application? DP159 or TMDS181? Thanks for your kindly help.

It depends on the source output is AC or DC coupled. For AC coupled output, use DP159. For DC coupled output, use TMDS181.
