Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TCAN1145-Q1
Hi Team,
This is Chris Park from TIK and I've a few questions related to TI's CAN and their ASIL ratings.
The products that I'm considering are TCAN1046A-Q1 and TCAN1145-Q1 with functional safety-capable and quality managed respectively.
The customer's application is electric actuator for automotive, and their supply voltage is around 5V. They want ASIL-D with the CAN transceivers.
As far as I know, TI's CAN transceivers can assist in achieving ASIL ratings at the system level, but at the transceiver level they do not have any ASIL rating.
Questions are as below;
1. Does this mean that ASIL ratings could vary by the systems that CAN are applied to?
2. To support ASIL-D with CAN, which device(1046 / 1145) with one channel or two channels is preferred? and which device (capable/quality managed) is preferred?
Thank you.
