TCA6418E: GPIO

Part Number: TCA6418E

Dear team

Does the GPIO port of TCA6418EYFPR need to be pull-high?

Many thanks

Denny

  • The GPIO_PULLx registers can enable the internal pull-down resistors. There are no internal pull-up resistors.

Any unused inputs need to have a pull-down or pull-up resistor to prevent it from floating.

  • Denny,

The device by default starts up with all GPIO ports configured as inputs with a 50 kΩ pull-down. Clemens is correct, depending on your design case, you should avoid a situation where an input is left floating. If you tie unused pins, choosing a pull-down to GND rather than a pull-up might provide marginal current consumption savings.

    Best,

    Danny
