DP83TC811S-Q1: The registers programming questions

Part Number: DP83TC811S-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DP83TC811, DP83TG720S-Q1, DP83TG720EVM-MC

Hi team,

My customer would like to design DP83TC811 and they ever designed DP83867 before.

Now they are asking how to program DP83TC811 registers setting based on previous DP83867 in RJ45& T1 data transfer.

For example :

DP83867 – sequence.

Reset

Write        REG = 0x1F                 Data = 0x8000

Write        REG = 0x00                 Data = 0x3140

Write        REG = 0x16                 Data = 0x7000

DP83TC811 – sequence.

Reset

Write        REG = 0x0D                Data = 0x0001

Write        REG = 0x00                 Data = 0x0834

Thanks

  • Hi team,

    Add more clear questions here!

We are trying to design a PCB contains two major chips.

One is Automotive ethernet 100Base-T1 Phy (DP83TC811), the other is Normal ethernet, support 10/100/1000Base-TX(DP83867).

They connected to each other through RGMII interface, shown as following block diagram.

The block diagram is captured from TI DP83TG720S-Q1 design reference, as attached snlu289.pdf.

Our PCB board just change DP83TG720 to DP83TC811 and change MCU from TI MSP40F5528 to NXP S32K144.

Could you please help to tell us how to config both DP83867 & DP83TC811(to replaced DP83TG720) through MII interface to make these two chips work functionally ?

Or does TI can provide us the MCU (MSP40F5528 ) source code on their official DP83TG720EVM-MC ?

    Thank you so much.

  • Hi Paul,

We have an application note for configuring the DP83TC811 that is under NDA. Please send me an email or private message and I can send that to you. In the meantime, the DP83TC811EVM user's guide may offer additional useful information.

    Thanks,

    David Creger
