Hi,
At PCIe Gen3, we expect about 0.8dB loss per inch.
Please note table 2 of the DS80PCI102 data sheet. Device can compensate for up to 35 inches of FR4 on its receive side.
On TX device boosts the signal by 12dB. It is a function of the receiver on the DS80PCI102 transmitter to equalize the incoming signal.
