SN75LVPE802: What level of DEW2 (pin 6) is recommended to be set when using transfer rate of 3Gbps by SATA?

Part Number: SN75LVPE802

Hi team,

There are two questions about SN75LVPE802

1. What level of DEW2 (pin 6) is recommended  to be set when using transfer rate of 3Gbps by SATA? If set to low, what will be the effect on signal function and quality?

2. Is there an internal pull-up in the pin DEW2 (pin 6)? It is not clearly stated in the datasheet.

Thanks a lot,

Matthew Chen

  • Hi Mathew,

1). Suggestion is to start with minimum or 0dB - DE1 = DE2 = 0. Then if you realize we need more eye opening, then first change EQ1/EQ2 from default value to 0 and then to 1. This way we are not over-equalizing the receiver attached to the output of the device.

2). There is some internal biasing that causes or forces -4dB de-emphasis.
