SN65LBC179: How to meet IEC 61000-4-2 standards

Hello,

I have a customer who is looking to use the SN65LBC179Q but needs their solution to meet IEC 61000-4-2 standards. Do you have a recommendation for additional circuitry/parts to pair with the SN65LBC179Q to accomplish this?

If there is an alternative TI device which meets IEC 61000-4-2 standards, and is readily available, we are open to that as well. We found the THVD1551 as being one option here but it is sold out everywhere so this may not be a suitable short-term option.

For your comparison to the THVD1551, you are correct that this would work.

But regarding additional parts that could help achieve the IEC standard for the SN65LBC179, I am contacting our protection devices team to see if they have recommendations for you.

Hi Matt,

A good external ESD diode to pair with SN65LBC179Q would be TPD2E007. It is a 13 V 2-channel protection diode rated for level 4 IEC 61000-4-2 ESD protection.
