TRSF3232E: Transmitter input hysteresis

Hi Team,

Our customer would like to know the transmitter input hysteresis value of TRSF3232EIDR. As I understand, the hysteresis value in the datasheet is for the receiver. Do we have the value for transmitter?

He also wants to know the transmitter output leakage current value.

  • Hi Danilo,

    The driver inputs do not have hysteresis built in - they are straight thresholds as shown below:

    A logic high is a voltage of a minimum of 2.4V and logic low is max of 0.8V where in-between is undefined logic.

    So we don't have that spec'd on this device - while we do spec output leakage on some of the RS-232 transceivers such as ones with auto-powerdown and a /FORCEOFF (due to being able to measure leakage when device is disabled) others we don't because the driver is assumed (as indicated in datasheet) that the DIN points are valid logic and since we spec the input currents + logic voltage outputs under valid DIN logic values and the output states are known. Since the output states are being driven the largest part of the current will be a expected current while a much smaller part would be leakage.

    Essentially this device wasn't designed to be used in applications where the driver outputs would not be always driving an output so that's why it isn't spec'd. However as mentioned above - some of our RS-232 transceivers do (since they have auto-power down mode) - if your customer is interested in that feature any TI RS-232 transceiver with the digit string 3223 (we have multiple variations on this part) will  have that feature (which also includes output leakage as a spec)
