TUSB8041: Does TUSB8041 support 1:4 fanout for USB3.0?

Part Number: TUSB8041

Hi Team:

Hope you're doing well.

My customer HYC (leading T&M supplier) is developing the multiple screen testers. And they ask if TI have the 1:n buffers to duplicate the USB3.0 signal. Cause analog switches will affect the bandwidth. So USB hub ICs are much more suitable for application. And only USB3.0 is needed. Do we have some proper materials to realize this requirements (1:4 USB3.0 duplicating)?

If not, do you have any system level design recommendations for this requirements?

Thanks.

  • Hi Marsh,

Each USB device has a separate device address assigned during enumeration by the USB host and it will only accept traffic for that address.  If the host enumerates 4 different devices connected to the hub, then the host can send packets to any / all of those 4 devices  but the same data packet won't be accepted by 4 different addresses, the host would have to send the data to each address individually.

    Regards,
