DP83869HM: Configuration for DP83869HM in SGMII-Copper mode

Part Number: DP83869HM

I'm trying to use the DP83869HM in SGMII-Copper mode but cannot get it to work.

The SGMII interface of the DP83869HM is connected to the SGMII of a KSZ9897S Microchip switch device.

The DP83869HM is also connected to an RGMII interface of a Xilinx Zynq-7000 device and to an RJ45 connector.

The circuitry works, i.e. I can get ethernet traffic through the switch, when the DP83869HM is in

RGMII-to-SGMII mode (Zynq to switch traffic) and when in RGMII-to-copper mode (Zynq to RJ45 traffic).

I now want to set the DP83869HM into SGMII-Copper mode to get switch to RJ45 traffic but when using the

following settings from SNLS614A (except autonegotiation is disabled), I don't get traffic through the switch from the RJ45

0x01DF=0X0006 (also tried 0x0046)

0x0000=0x0140

0x0010=0x5048

0x0009=0x0B00 (also tried 0x1B00 and 0x1300)

0x0c00=0x0140

I have set the SGMII interface of the switch (KSZ9897S) to non-autonegotiation, full duplex, 1Gbps and it is set in MAC-side mode.

I would appreciate any help to get the correct configuration/setup.

  • Hi Graham,

    I am guessing the problem is with the non auto-negotiation configuration of the link. Why did you choose to disable auto-neg? The easiest resolution will be to enable it if possible, please try this and let us know the result.

    Thanks,
