What are the ESR requirements for SN65HVD62 and SN65HVD63 external crystal oscillators? Spec not marked.

Hi Delmore,

The ESR specification for this device is not currently available either due to it never being specified, or it could have been lost due to the age of the device and the records are no longer retained.

I would suggest that the crystal chosen by the original development team to be used on the Evaluation Module (EVM) (link) could be used as a reference. The Bill of Materials in the EVM Users Guide (link) lists the crystal as a Hong Kong Crystals # SSL8704018AEHFF0.

The crystal datasheet shows a standard ESR value of 50 ohms for an 8.704 MHz crystal in this SS series of crystals. (https://www.hongkongcrystal.com/wp-content/uploads/images/cataloguePDF/S2_S3_SS_S4_hkc.pdf)
