TCAN1044A-Q1: TLE9350VSJ replacement

Part Number: TCAN1044A-Q1

Hi Expert,

Customer is trying to find the alternative solution for TLE9350VSJ(different from TLE9350SJ). We are looking at TCAN1044A-Q1. The only difference is pin 8 definition. For TLE9350VSJ, pin8 is power save mode. For TCAN1044A-Q1, pin8 is standby mode. From my understanding, these two device should be P2P compatible from the schematic perspective. But does customer need to change the software logic?

Or which device is suitable for alternative for TLE9350VSJ?

Thanks!

Ethan Wen

  • Hi Ethan,

Standby mode is a low power mode of the device. Both of these pins function the same way. If the pin is high the device will enter a low power state where the driver is powered off and only a low power receiver is used. If the pin is low the device is in normal mode. There won't be any software changes needed.

    Best,

    Chris

  • Hi Ethan,

Yes, TCAN1044AV would be the most suitable replacement for this device.

To elaborate on the pin 8 function a bit, there is a slight difference between the two modes discussed here. Standby mode leaves a low power receiver active which can monitor the CAN bus for wake up patterns and indicate this bus activity on the RXD pin. The low power mode of the competitor device does not have this low power receiver, and is essentially powered off completely in this mode.
