TCAN1057AEV-Q1: Need Info on this CAN Protol Part

Part Number: TCAN1057AEV-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TCAN1057A-Q1, TCAN1057AV-Q1, TCAN1051

I am given part number TCAN1057GVDRQ1 as part of the BOM for my project. However, I am not able to find this part on the TI web site or on any semiconductor supplier sites.

  1. So, is TCAN1057GVDRQ1 a valid TI part number?
  2. I am able to find part number TCAN1051GVDRQ1. What is the functional difference between TCAN1057GVDRQ1 and TCAN1051GVDRQ1 ?
  3. How is TCAN1057A-Q1 or TCAN1057AV-Q1 different from the TCAN1057 parts?

Thank you.

James

  • Hi James,

    1. The TCAN1057A does not have a G variant. On the older TCAN1051 the G meant that the device was CAN FD capable (5 Mbps). The newer TCAN1057A is CAN FD capable no matter what and is rated for up to 8 Mbps.

2.The TCAN1057A is the newer version of the TCAN1051. They are both functionally the same and most importantly they both come with silent mode. If you are looking for a high voltage bus fault of +/- 70V then I would go with the TCAN1051.  If you do not need the high voltage bus fault then the TCAN1057A is the more up to date part.

3.The Q1 indicates that the part is automotive qualified. If you see Q1 on any of our parts it means automotive qualified.

    Best,

    Chris
