ESD2CAN24-Q1: Stand Off vs. Clamping Voltage Difference

Hey Team,

My customer and I are wondering what the difference is between the Reverse Stand-off voltage (Vrwm) and Clamping voltage (Vclamp) is on the ESD2CAN24-Q1.

Would this be a function of current sunk into diodes - in the case of Vrwm, would the DS be referring to operation at currents <3.5App?

Hi Dajon,

Vrwm is the maximum voltage that should be on the signal line during normal operation. This is to ensure that the diode will not prematurely conduct during normal system operation. This is usually spec'd as the max voltage across the diode that will cause it to leak < 10-50 nA of current through it. Vclamp is the voltage the downstream circuitry sees when the diode is conducting during an ESD or surge event. This is spec'd for different types of transients based on their energy level/intensity.
