TUSB8041-Q1: Can USB3.0 and USB2.0 be used together?

Part Number: TUSB8041-Q1

Hi Team,

My customer is considering TUSB8041IPAPQ1 and he wants to use 3 ports for USB3.0 and 1 port for USB2.0.

Customer have following questions, could you kindly help?

1. Can TUSB8041IPAPQ1 be used  for USB3.0 and USB2.0 together?

2. When using USB2.0, following pins is unused. From following material, it says just leave it unconnected and no terminal is needed if downstream port is not connected. Is this also the same when using USB2.0?

USB_SSRXM_DN*

USB_SSTXP_DN*

3. Is there anything customer should care about when using USB3.0 and USB2.0 together? It will be great if there's any material.

Thanks.

Regards,

Jo

  • Hi Jo,

    1. Yes a USB 3 device and USB 2 device can be connected to the Hub at the same time.

    2. When using only USB 2 on a downstream port you can leave the listed pins floating. If using USB 3 then USB 2 pins must be connected to the device/connector.

    3. No great concern here, Hub is intend to work in this application.
