TUSB8041: Power consumption and use

Hello Team.

I have a customer who is interested in using the TUSB8041.

They are asking if they could design the 4 ports Hub so only one port will be powered by both upstream bus power and DC In power while the remaining three ports will be powered only by the DC In power?

What is the power consumption for the USB HUB circuit in case no load on any of the USB ports?

they can either powered by bus power or self DC power, not sure what they mean for "powered by both upstream bus power and DC In power".

Power consumption can be found at page 11 in datasheet.

Hi Brian,

This device will be powered by either an external adaptor or through a backend USB to this hub.

Their USB power output current is low therefore he wants to know if he could switch to powering only 2 ports instead of all 4 once the external adaptor is not used.

not any port can be isolated tolly from power supply distribution on the chip, even if the two ports not get powered, the voltage from other ports may still leakage to this two ports . So it's not a good idea.
