Hi All,

Customer wants to use the PCA9306 between the EC and audio. The EC is connected 3V3 as a master, and audio is connected the 1V8 as a slave. I want to confirm whether the PCA9306 meets the project requirements?Do you have other solutions?

Yes.

You could also use any other I²C translator, e.g., TCA9800.

You're image shows SDA and SCL are swapped. Is this some kind of mistake? PCA9306 can level translate for you but I want to be sure you haven't swapped SDA/SCL nets in your schematic.

Hi Bobby，

Due to customer using the device need to change the position between master and slave. They worry master and slave is fixed with the PCA9306

I²C is bidirectional; on the electrical level, there is no difference between master and slave.

Could we swapped SDA/SCL nets for layout smoothly? If not, why not?

There is no difference between the SCL and SDA channels; you can swap them.

Erin, Your image has the 'master' SDA connected to the 'Slave' SCL. SDA must be connected to SDA and SCL must be connected to SCL. I've already added a section in the datasheet that states that the PCA9306 does not know or care if the I2C master/slave is on side 1 or side 2. Refer to section 8.1.6
