DP83867CR: Schematic Review

Part Number: DP83867CR
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM5729

Hi all,

Would you please check the schematic between AM5729 and DP83867CR connection ? Thanks!

  • Hi Alikaan,

Let me take a detailed review of the schematic and provide the feedback by end of Thursday.

  • Hi Ali Kaan,

Sorry for the delay in response. Please find my comments below.

    1. Connection of crystal:
      • Please connect load caps on XI, XO to ground
      • Recommend having place holders of 0 ohms series resistances in XI and XO path
      • Please get in touch with crystal vendor to get the optimum value of loading caps and current limiting series resistance in XO path.

    2. Power Supply:
      • Please connect capacitances on each of these pins as specified in section 10 of the datasheet
      • Please check if the power supplies are following the power up timing mentioned in the datasheet

    3. RESET_N/INT_N:
      • Recommend connecting RESET_N to a AM57X as it is better to have the degree of freedom to RESET the device when required.
      • RESET_N should be pulled up to the same supply which supplies VDDIO pin (PHY_VDDIO_3V3) and not any other 3.3V supply(VDD_3V3 in this case)
      • INT pin is by default power down. This should be driven low to bring the device out of the power-down. Pull-up to 3.3V will not work.

    4. MDI:
      • Can you please share the magnetic and connector side of the connections?
    5. Straps:
      • TX Skew is set to 1ns. Is this intentional? If so, why is this chosen?
      • RX Skew is set to 3.5ns. Is this intentional? If so, why is this chosen?
      • Signal PHY_GPIO1 from straps is not connected to pin40, can you please check this?
