Does TI have any device or document to implement SDI-12 bus?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN74LXC1T45, SN74AHCT1G126, SN74LVC1G17

Hello guys,

One of my customers is looking for any device for SDI-12 bus or how to implement for it.
Does TI have any device or document to implement SDI-12 bus?

About SDI-12 bus

Your reply would be much appreciated.

Best regards,
Kazuya.

  • The SDI-12 data line uses a bidirectional, slow, 5 V signal. So you need a device with Schmitt-trigger inputs, and a level shifter if your own logic voltage is lower.

If your microcontroller also uses a single, bidirectional data line, use the SN74LXC1T45.
If your microcontroller uses separate TX and RX lines, use the SN74AHCT1G126 (sending) and SN74LVC1G17 (receiving).
In both cases, you need a separate direction control signal. The SN74AHCT1G126 does not support logic voltages below 3.3 V.

In any case, you will probably need additional ESD/overvoltage protection.

  • Hello Clemens,

Thank you very much for your reply!
