TLIN2021A-Q1: Isolation forum

Part Number: TLIN2021A-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ISO6731, ISO6741, TMUX7219-Q1

Hi,

See I have one master and two slaves, some time one slave switch to master that time I need to isolate main master. Is there any possible way to isolate main master?

Regards,

JIJU RAJ

  • Hello Jiju,

Thank you for considering our isolation products. In order to isolate the logic between the controller and TLIN device please consider ISO6731 (2 forward and one reverse channel) or ISO6741 (four forward and one reverse channel).

    I hope this helps.

    Best,

    Andrew

  • Hello Andrew,

But we have no control in master LIN bus. Only the control in two slaves. In some times we need to isolate the main Master LIN(we have no control in main master) bus and at the same time one of the slave goes to another master, there for is there any isolation circuit is available to isolate the main Mater LIN bus.

  • Hello Andrew,

Can we use these(TMUX7219-Q1) type of (SPDT) Precision Switch for isolating main master LIN bus?

  • Hello Jiju,

Thank you for the added information, it helps me understand your use case better.

The ISO67xx family works to provide Galvanic Isolation and isolate the ground planes of two circuits. After using a digital isolator, the two ground planes are completely independent. This technical article can provide more information on the different types of isolation (+) Isolation 101. Based on your inputs, this is not what you are looking for.

The TMUX7219-Q1 will work as a switch to multiplex between the data signals. This can allow you to switch between which LIN master has control over the bus. I will reach out to the experts in these products to help you select the best mux for your application.

    Best,

    Andrew

  • Hello Andrew,

Any update on these (I will reach out to the experts in these products to help you select the best mux for your application.)?

  • Hi Jiju,

Do we understand correctly that you need to selectively turn on and off the commander node pull-up based on your system?
