DS160PT801: Limitation for IBIS-AMI model

Part Number: DS160PT801

Hello Team,

My customer is considering the DS160PT801 and are working on simulation with the provided IBIS-AMI model.

In the simulation, when the parameters of TxAMI and Retimer were changed from TYP to MAX, the waveform with eye broken was output.

Could you tell me if there are any limitations in this simulation model?
It looks like need to use both Tx and Rx model in testing.

Best regards,

Sato

  • Hi Sato,

Would you mind showing an image?

It sounds like this is a case of over equalization, where you used a setting that was too high, and it adversely affected the eye diagram.  More equalization isn't always better.  Do you think this could be the case?

  • Hi Nicholaus,

Thank you for answering. And I'm sorry for missing check for some documents.
They are using ADS tool and it have check box of 'set all data', this is seems select for model parameter typ/min/max and they selected 'max'.
However it looks like DS160PT801 IBIS model don't define min/max, so there was not getting the correct result, I think.

We'll try to simulation continues for using this IBIS model.

    Best regards,

    Sato

  • Hi Takehiro,

Thanks for letting us know, feel free to reach out if you need additional support on the model, I'll mark as resolved.

    Best,
