DP83TG720S-Q1: Ethernet PHY

Part Number: DP83TG720S-Q1

Hi Experts,

Our customer wants an Ethernet PHY which can support 10, 100 and 1000 Mbps. I know we have to select a 10/100/1000 Ethernet Phy. Is it okay if we select only a 1000Base T Ethernet PHY? Is the data transmission rate locked to 1 Gbps in 1000 Base T, or can we also get 10 and 100 Mbps?

I have read below but still unsure:

Please help confirm. Thank you.

Best regards,

Gerald

  • Hi Gerald,

It all depends on what your customer wants. If they need varied speed (10/100/1G), then you must choose a PHY which is capable of support of all these speeds instead of a fixed speed PHY like DP83TG720. Please consult our datasheet to see which PHYs support which speeds.

    Sincerely,

    Gerome
